Component to RGB Converter

Device Overview

The device accepts a single YPbPr (component) video input + stereo audio [1], and outputs both RGBS + stereo audio over Euro-SCART [2], RGBHV over VGA (D-sub 15) [3], and stereo audio via a 3.5mm audio jack [4].

The device needs to be powered with 5V DC using the micro-USB connector [5]. It is a relatively low power device, but is recommended to use a supply capable of providing at least 500mA.

The switch [6] toggles the SCART status output. It is NOT for power. When switched to the left, the status output will be off, and to the right (towards the micro-USB port), the status output will be on @16:9 resolution. It is recommended to leave this in the off position for 4:3, but many TVs use this for auto-detection.

The device is uni-directional. The device will not accept SCART or VGA inputs, and will not output component video. The audio from the component RCA jacks is passed directly to the 3.5mm jack with no filtering or conversion.

Please note that noisy power supplies may cause quality issues. Please check this first if you notice a noisy output image or audio.

When SD and HD (>25KHz) resolutions are switched at the input, the device performs an automatic reset by toggling the INPUT SELECT of the chip (for ~100ms). This avoids issues with rapid resolution switching for certain games, but does mean there will be a brief delay when switching between SD and HD resolutions.
